"I got into the profession by accident... and I absolutely fell in love with it," JD shares. This passion led him to establish J. Donovan Smith Creative, a company that offers a range of services including video production, graphic design, and professional photography.
With over 30 years of experience, JD has worked on various high-profile projects, including international label development for St. Michel Wine Estates. His expertise in brand marketing has helped numerous businesses elevate their visual identity. "I've been using Photoshop since it didn't have layers," JD recalls, highlighting his long-standing commitment to mastering his craft.
But JD's contributions extend beyond the realm of business. He is deeply involved in community activities, most notably with the Everett Elks Lodge. His journey with the Elks began by chance through a wine tasting event, but it quickly evolved into involvement - and then a significant leadership role. JD currently holds the position of Loyal Knight, the second chair in the lodge's hierarchy. Emphasizing the welcoming and inclusive nature of the organization JD says, "Every time I go in there, you just feel good. It feels great being there."
The Elks Lodge, with its rich history dating back to the 19th century, is more than just a social club. It is a community-focused organization committed to various charitable initiatives. From drug awareness programs to veteran services and children's therapy, the Elks play a vital role in supporting the local community. JD proudly mentions a recent $40,000 donation to the children's hospital, showcasing the tangible impact of their efforts.
For JD, the Elks Lodge is a place where he can blend his creative skills with his passion for community service. He envisions enhancing the lodge's visibility and engagement through better communication and creative solutions. "I see ways that we can improve the way we look out in the community and for the way when people come in," he explains.
